Abstract
Restoring missing teeth in the esthetic zone is a challenging task in implant dentistry. A predictable solution must deliver not only functional stability but also satisfying esthetics. This case demonstrates the use of Alpha-Bio Tec.'s NICE™ narrow diameter implant, combined with a Ti-base and CAD/CAM technology, to meet the expectations of this young patient.
Case Overview
A young female patient presented with a congenitally missing tooth (#22). With high esthetic demands and a narrow ridge, the treatment required meticulous planning and performing the restoration of both function and a natural smile. The NICE™ narrow diameter implant (D3.2 x L11.5 mm) was selected due to its ability to adapt to limited ridge dimensions.
Treatment Workflow
- Initial Assessment: A CBCT scan and clinical evaluation confirmed a narrow ridge, which posed a challenge for implant placement. The treatment plan included bone grafting, soft tissue management, and temporary crown immediately engaged to the implant.
- Implant Placement: The NICE™ narrow diameter implant was installed in the position of the missing tooth (#22). Bone grafting, covered by a collagen membrane, was performed simultaneously.
- Soft Tissue Management: To optimize the esthetic outcome, connective tissue grafting was carried out, improving the soft tissue biotype and contributing to a natural crown emergence profile.
- Immediate Provisionalization: A provisional crown was placed on a Ti-base immediately following implant placement. This step, was a part of the development of the emergence profile.
- Final Restoration: Following healing phase, the definitive screw-retained crown was fabricated using CAD/CAM technology. The precise fit and customized design ensured excellent function, esthetics, and occlusal harmony.
Why NICE™ Narrow Diameter Implants?
The NICE™ narrow diameter implant is designed to address the challenges of narrow ridges and high esthetic requirements:
- Adaptability: The 3.2 mm diameter is ideal for cases with limited bone volume, allowing for predictable outcomes without a possible need for extensive ridge augmentation.
- Good primary Stability: Despite its narrow size, NICE™ implants offer excellent primary stability, essential for immediate loading.
- Esthetic Results: When combined with a Ti-base and CAD/CAM technology, NICE™ implants enable highly customized restorations that blend with neighboring natural teeth.
Clinical Results
The patient achieved a beautiful, natural-looking restoration that met both functional and esthetic demands. The soft tissue around the implant demonstrated excellent healing and adaptation, supported by the connective tissue grafting and previously preparation steps.
Conclusion
This case demonstrates the effectiveness of NICE™ narrow diameter implants in restoring esthetic zone deficiencies with limited ridge dimensions. By combining precise implant placement, soft tissue management, and CAD/CAM technology, clinicians can deliver predictable, high-quality results that exceed patient expectations.
